So far this year we have supported 224 people in the Next Steps centre and 260 criminal justice clients in outreach in the community and in reach into Norfolk prisons on their recovery from problematic substance use.
The core of Next Steps is the Recovery Support Programme (RSP) and we have delivered 6 cohorts of this programme. This has been complemented by more than 1300 drop-in sessions, with over two-thirds of those completing the programme and participating in wider holistic activities including woodwork, pottery, art, music sessions, cooking, allotment, walking group, paddleboarding, mindfulness, sewing or knitting. They also include taking part in short term projects – examples have included joining an archaeological dig and learning medieval building conservation.
We have delivered weekly SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) sessions in HMP Norwich, HMP Bure and HMP Wayland.
88% of members have reported in an improvement in mental health and wellbeing.
79% of members reported feeling more socially connected.
83% of those offered 1:1 support took that up.
“I felt I have connected with my sobriety and friendships at TMP much more deeply than other services. TMP has helped me develop a meaningful sense of purpose which I don’t think other services could offer on the same level. I don’t mean this lightly but I do really feel it has changed my life significantly in so many ways. I’m so grateful for their support and everything they do for everyone here. Life wouldn’t be the same without this organisation”
