Outside the Wire Snapshot of 2024

Outside the Wire (OTW) has had 81 referrals so far this year, supported 106 clients across the four counties in 2024, 35 of those clients are new starts. We are currently supporting 30 of those clients.

In 2024 we were involved in the following events: Royal Norfolk Show, RAF Honington Families Day, RAF Honington SSAFA Big Brew, St. Ives Well-being Day, AFD in Cambridge and Suffolk, RAFA Rides at RAF Marham, RAF Marham Friends and Families Day, Old Buckenham Airshow, NCC Community Fund Day, Recruitment Day Ipswich Town Football Club. As a team we have also attended multiple drop-in sessions throughout the 4 counties.

It has been a turbulent year for OTW losing our funding from RBL and subsequently reducing our reach and closing Essex, Cambridgeshire as regions, Our Affected Others position and our Prisoners Practitioner as well as saying goodbye to the Service Manager and the Lead Worker.

The last couple of months it has been hard, a time of reflection and a time to say goodbye. But you can’t keep a good man down and, in this instance, a good team, we continue to fight supporting our Veterans in Norfolk and Suffolk and being inclusive in TMP’s future planning.

We were awarded the ERS Silver award for recognition of employing armed forces personnel and been successful in funding bids from the Veterans Foundation and with other bids in we are confident of the longevity of the service.

Trips included: 16 veterans on a pilgrimage tour of the Normandy, Northern France area to celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day (06 June 1944). This trip took place in March 24, and we visited sites including:
