Are you creative, passionate about the arts or music, and fancy doing something incredibly rewarding with your spare time? Then we need YOU!
The Matthew Project is a welcoming and vibrant place for building community, providing support, and helping to develop the confidence and skills for those in recovery from substance misuse. The Recovery Hub (at 70-80 Oak Street, Norwich NR3 3AQ) has amazing facilities and spaces and is open every day of the week.
We are looking for weekend volunteers to support the Next Steps Recovery Team in delivering/ facilitating creative workshops in a fun, relaxing and supportive group environment. Here are some of the workshops we would like you to deliver:
· Creative writing / drawing
· Arts and crafts
· Music / singing coach
If you have something else to offer us, we are open to suggestions!
We recognise that developing new skills helps to increase someone’s confidence, makes a positive contribution to their ongoing recovery, and can increase their employability. Therefore, we are looking for volunteers who can encourage people to join in and make them feel comfortable by providing a supportive learning environment.
Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Personal qualities are very important to volunteering roles. You will need to be reliable, friendly, enthusiastic, and have a positive attitude to life. We also value good listening and great communication skills. These all need to be coupled with a commitment to substance misuse recovery principles.
The application process will include an interview, referencing and, if appropriate to the volunteering role, checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
